How to make Gingham Hello Kitty with fuse beads

  1. Get the grid ready. Print the grid in colour or display it on a tablet next to your 52 × 52 pegboard.
  2. Prepare your beads and tools. Gather the 14 colours in the pattern (H02, M13, H04, G13, F09, F21, F10, C07, C24, B29, F24, E15, B13, A17), a 52 × 52 pegboard, bent-tip tweezers, ironing paper and an iron.
  3. Start with the outline in grey (H04). Place it with bent-tip tweezers, following the grid row by row. It draws the silhouette and guides everything else.
  4. Fill the large areas. Use white (H02), dark salmon (M13), sienna (G13), watermelon (F09), light pink (F21) and denim blue (C07).
  5. Add the details. Finish with the small touches: auburn (F10), light sky blue (C24), yellow green (B29), orchid pink (F24), baby pink (E15), pale yellow (B13) and mustard (A17).
  6. Iron. Cover the pattern with ironing paper, iron on medium heat without steam. Move in small circles for 10 to 20 seconds until the beads fuse. Let it cool under a book so your piece stays flat.
