The green button adds one 1,000-bead bag per colour to your cart, enough to make the pattern with beads to spare. The second button opens our bead calculator with all 12 colours and exact quantities already filled in: check, adjust if needed, then add to cart. Some colours are only used for a few beads, such as F11 (4 beads), F13 (8 beads), F16 (8 beads): for those, the second button is the more economical choice.
How to make the Christmas tree bear with fuse beads
- Get the grid ready. Print the grid in colour or display it on a tablet next to your 52 × 52 pegboards. Spot the three pieces: the bear, the star and the candy cane.
- Prepare your beads and tools. Gather the 12 colours listed above, 2 square 52 × 52 pegboards, bent-tip tweezers, ironing paper and an iron.
- Start with the outlines. Aqua green (B12) and sienna (G07) for the bear, dark salmon (M13) for the star and the candy cane. Place them with bent-tip tweezers, following the grid row by row.
- Fill the large areas. The green of the costume (B08, B07, B12), the bear's fur (G09), the yellow of the star (A26) and the candy cane stripes (B12 and G09).
- Add the details. The muzzle (G18), the cheeks (F16), the red bow (F13, F15), the eyes (F11) and the little garland baubles (F15, A26).
- Iron. Cover each piece with ironing paper, iron on medium heat without steam. Move in small circles for 10 to 20 seconds until the beads fuse. Let them cool under a book so your pieces stay flat.
Frequently asked questions
How many beads do I need for this Bear in a Christmas Tree Costume pattern?
You need 1,264 beads in total, in 12 colours: 265 Aqua Green (B12), 234 Light Wood (G09), 213 Amber (A26), 176 Jade (B08), 147 Dark Salmon (M13), 88 Sienna (G07), 68 Mint (B07), 33 Dark Cherry (F15), 20 Bisque (G18), 8 Tomato (F13), 8 Peach (F16), 4 Wine Red (F11).
How big is the finished piece?
With 2.6mm mini beads, the bear measures about 7.3 × 9.1 cm (28 × 35 beads), the star 4.9 × 4.9 cm (19 × 19 beads) and the candy cane about 13 × 13 cm (50 × 50 beads, diagonally). The candy cane takes a 52 × 52 pegboard on its own; the bear and the star fit together on a second one.
Does this pattern work with Hama mini or Artkal beads?
Yes. The codes are MARD codes, and our 2.6mm beads are compatible with Artkal mini beads. You can also use Hama mini beads (2.5mm): the grid stays the same, the result is just slightly smaller (bear about 7 × 8.8 cm).
Is this pattern suitable for beginners?
Yes, one piece at a time. The pattern uses 12 colours, but the star only uses 5: a good place to start. Allow about 2 h 30 of placing for all three pieces.
Can I sell pieces made from this pattern?
No. This pattern is adapted from a design found online, by an unknown artist. It is shared for free for personal, non-commercial use only.
