Santa in His Sleigh Fuse Bead Pattern: Large Free 54×54 Grid
- 2,916 beads
- 15 colours
- 54 × 54 grid
- Intermediate
- 2.6mm mini beads
A cheerful Santa settled in his golden sleigh, with a sack full of presents. The black outline draws clear areas that are easy to follow, and the bright red coat does all the work. The white background is optional: without it, you are left with 1,725 beads and the design fits on a single 52 × 52 pegboard. A lovely piece for a shelf, near the tree or on the festive table.
The Santa in his sleigh pattern grid
Each square shows the MARD code of the bead to place. The grid is split into 5 × 5 blocks so you never lose your place.

Handy if you already own some of the colours: the smallest quantity is G14 (13 beads).
How to make Santa with fuse beads
- Get the grid ready. Print the grid in colour or display it on a tablet next to your pegboard. Decide from the start whether you keep the white background: without it, one 52 × 52 pegboard is enough.
- Prepare your beads and tools. Gather the 15 colours listed above, a 52 × 52 pegboard (or 4 joined pegboards for the full grid), bent-tip tweezers, ironing paper and an iron.
- Start with the black outline (H07). Place it with bent-tip tweezers, following the grid row by row. It draws the shape of Santa and the sleigh and guides everything else.
- Fill the large areas. The red of the coat, hat and sleigh (F04 and F06), then the white beard and fur (H02) with their bluish shadows (C23).
- Add the details. The face (F16, A12), the green presents (B05, B12, B22), the sack (G04, G14) and the golden runners (A05, G10).
- Iron. Cover the pattern with ironing paper, iron on medium heat without steam. Move in small circles for 10 to 20 seconds until the beads fuse. Let it cool under a book so your piece stays flat.
Frequently asked questions
How many beads do I need for this Santa in His Sleigh pattern?
You need 2,916 beads in total, in 15 colours: 1,516 White (H02), 396 Black (H07), 302 Dark Cherry (F04), 197 Chestnut (F06), 142 Mustard (A05), 114 Lavender (C23), 56 Bronze (G10), 52 Peach (F16), 32 Dark Slate Grey (B22), 22 Light Salmon (A12), 22 Aqua Green (B12), 19 Light Wood (G04), 19 Sienna (G07), 14 Lime Green (B05), 13 Cacao (G14).
How big is the finished piece?
With 2.6mm mini beads, the full grid measures about 14 × 14 cm. If you skip the white background, Santa alone is 50 × 52 beads, about 13 × 13.5 cm: he then fits on a single square 52 × 52 pegboard.
Does this pattern work with Hama mini or Artkal beads?
Yes. The codes are MARD codes, and our 2.6mm beads are compatible with Artkal mini beads. You can also use Hama mini beads (2.5mm): the grid stays the same, the result is just slightly smaller (about 13.5 × 13.5 cm).
Is this pattern suitable for beginners?
It is more of an intermediate project, with 15 colours and almost 3,000 beads. The areas are large and clearly framed by the black outline, though. To save time, leave out the white background: you are left with 1,725 beads, about 3 h 30 of placing.
Can I sell pieces made from this pattern?
No. This pattern is adapted from a design found online, by an unknown artist. It is shared for free for personal, non-commercial use only.
